New Running Shoes
by Hella ~ December 27th, 2003Due to a recent problem with my cuboid bone, I have taken more than a month off from running. I have not trained since my last race, a half-marathon on Nov 16. After two visits with the podiatrist, I have decided that it is time to give things another shot, but the doctor recommended buying a new pair of shoes.
I made a trip down to RunTex Lake Austin in hopes of finding someone who could understand my recent injury and recommend a shoe that fits my running style. In Bill, I found both, and he recommended first a Mizuno shoe and then an Asics shoe. He also had me try an insert to compensate for my high arch. Bill concluded that I overpronate with my right foot (the likely cause of my injury) but supinate with my left.
I decided to go with the Asics GT-2090 and a set of Powerstep inserts.
