Deception Point

by Hella ~ March 16th, 2004

I just finished reading Deception Point, the second book I’ve read by Dan Brown. While it initially did not hold my attention as much as The Da Vinci Code, the pace quickened in the middle of the book and continued through the intense ending. The plot of this one had me completely fooled as I kept trying to put the antagonistic role on the wrong two characters.

This book reads more like a Crichton novel and is much different than the religion-oriented Robert Langston symbologist series. I suspect that Brown’s other book, Digital Fortress, might share some of these sci-fi themes. I will eventually have to pick that one up because I’m now a big fan of this author’s style.

Next up is Angels & Demons. Hopefully I’ll have time to read a good deal of it this weekend and finish it up by next week. I’ll be looking for some more ideas since I’ll only have one Dan Brown book left.

Another friend of mine prefers Angels & Demons over The Da Vinci Code as well. I’m ready to see what it’s about because DVC was really fantastic.

I preferred A&D over DC. The characters were better developed, the plot was more intricate, and I thought he raised some genuinely interesting questions about the nature both of science and (organized)religion, and the possibility for intersection between the two.
