Seven Loop
by Hella ~ March 29th, 2004After a decent race yesterday, I had an even better training run today. Everything felt great. I had some Amelie going on the iPod; there’s something about the klinkity-klank of bells and chimes that helps me keep a good cadence.
I set out a bit late so it was dark by the time I finished, but the cool evening air felt really good. I aimed for a consistent pace the whole way without running out of gas too soon. I was also trying out a new pair of shorts and I really like the fit. I didn’t have any foot or leg pain other than training soreness. I need to put in runs like this more consistently so I’ll be in shape by the time the Philadelphia Marathon rolls around next Fall.
I’m convinced that I’m a much better runner after dark because the sun really zaps me and keeps my body temperature high. I tend to lose salt very quickly and I think it affects my ability to maintain a solid pace. A friend has suggested I try ThermoTabs but the pharmacy has been out when I’ve been to get them. I’ll have to try them before my next long event.
