WordPress 1.2 Beta
by Hella ~ April 29th, 2004Since the 1.2 Beta version of WordPress is now available, I decided to upgrade. I’ve done several upgrades in the past, and this one offered no surprises.
In upcoming versions, the old style of the hacks file will be superceded by the new plugins architecture so I have decided to shuck some of the old functionality [...]
Lost Soles
by Hella ~ April 27th, 2004After the mudfest at Rocky Hill Ranch, I put my Montrails in the washing machine but not before taking out the laces and the insoles. When I went to run this afternoon, I remembered the laces but forgot the insoles. Needless to say, my 4 mile loop was interesting. By the end of it, I [...]
Sausage
by Hella ~ April 24th, 2004After the race and an attempt at a nap, I decided that I wanted a nice hearty dinner. I’ve been to Fredericksburg a couple times before and have tried two local restaurants. My favorite is The Auslander so I decided to make the 80 mile trip around 4:15 in the afternoon.
It was on the early [...]
Rocky Hill Ranch 25K
by Hella ~ April 24th, 2004I woke up around 4:30 AM in order to shower and finish getting all my things ready to take to the race. The drive out there (Smithville) from Austin is about 45 miles and I wanted to allow at least 20 minutes or so to get my packet, finish my pre-race preparation, and get to [...]
Connie and Carla
by Hella ~ April 22nd, 2004The previews for this one looked hilarious so I decided to give it a shot tonight. While this is a really fun movie, the focus is more on the talent the girls have and the subplots, where the juice really is, take a while to get started. It’s also covered in more cheese than a [...]
Philadelphia Revisited
by Hella ~ April 20th, 2004Well things were growing this time (grass, trees, flowers) … and so the city grows on me just like everyone said it would. Instead of sewer and smoke in the air, there was actually the scent of blooming trees, honeysuckle, and wisteria. A trip up to the Art Museum area and Fairmount Park really helped [...]
Pietro’s Coal Oven Pizzeria
by Hella ~ April 20th, 2004I was in the mood to try another local place for dinner on Sunday night so I headed over to this place near 17th and Walnut. I was originally attracted to the place because they have a limited amount of bistro type outdoor seating. I got seated right away in the main dining room directly [...]
Monk’s Cafe
by Hella ~ April 18th, 2004After Wharton Welcome Weekend was over, I went for a Sunday brunch at this Belgian Cafe and Beer Emporium. Several people I’d met had mentioned they wanted to try it and one even stopped in only to find a 45 minute wait on Friday night and went elsewhere. At around 11:30 on Sunday morning, though, [...]
WWW Day 3
by Hella ~ April 18th, 2004The final day of Wharton Welcome Weekend was a more restful one. From 9 to noon, there were panel discussions and presentations on a variety of topics including career management and academics. Since I’d already sat in on some of these during Winter Welcome, I opted to attend only the career management session. It was [...]
WWW Day 2
by Hella ~ April 16th, 2004I woke up early this morning and made it to campus in time to grab some breakfast in Huntsman Hall. Upon arrival in the Baker Forum, I quickly found the mini-cohort to which I had been assigned. Just as at Winter Welcome, the names were events, groups, or other notable things about the Wharton experience; [...]
