Going Batty
by Hella ~ April 3rd, 2004I guess it’s silly that I haven’t done one of the most popular things in Austin even though I’ve lived here almost seven years. Tonight, just before sunset, I went to my first official Congress Avenue bat viewing. Earlier in the week I saw the bats from my kayak while I was on Town Lake, but looking at them while sitting on the lawn made it easier to see just how many of them there were. Just before they came out, the chirping was pretty loud and after most of them had flown from the bridge, it mostly faded out and the crickets took over.
