Sausage
by Hella ~ April 24th, 2004After the race and an attempt at a nap, I decided that I wanted a nice hearty dinner. I’ve been to Fredericksburg a couple times before and have tried two local restaurants. My favorite is The Auslander so I decided to make the 80 mile trip around 4:15 in the afternoon.
It was on the early side for dinner and the biergarten wasn’t very crowded. There was a nice cool breeze blowing in from outside so I had a seat and ordered up a German Snack with Knackwurst and Bratwurst. For the main course, I decided on the Opa’s sausage plate with a side of potato pancakes and green beans. The entire meal was better than I had remembered. It was served up with a fresh pumpernickel roll and a side salad.
I left around 6:30 as the live music for the evening was just finishing up their sound check. It was starting to get busier, too. While I’d liked to have stayed and listened for a while, I was pretty tired and the rainy drive back wouldn’t exactly be energizing given all the meat I’d just snarfed down.
