Loan Counseling

by Hella ~ May 11th, 2004

I completed the loan counseling session today as recommended in the Matriculation Timeline. It is relatively straightforward, though you are required to provide correct answers to questions at each step. I suppose this ensures people actually read the pages, or at least the important parts.
The topics covered include:

Types of Loans; subsidized vs. unsubsidized
Master Promissory Note [...]

Van Helsing

by Hella ~ May 11th, 2004

I think I already saw this one. It was called Battlefied Earth that time. Ok, maybe not quite that bad … but very close.
The best parts of this movie are the soundtrack and the comic relief. There are a few parts that are hilarious. Also a relief was the ending where I could exit the [...]

Furniture Strategy

by Hella ~ May 9th, 2004

With the moving quotes all over the place, I’ve done something I didn’t ever see myself doing: I’ve sold a lot of my furniture. I placed an ad yesterday and have had a buzz of inquiries about everything I’ve listed. Today I had a visitor stop by and check the stuff out. I ended [...]

Redemption Run

by Hella ~ May 9th, 2004

I went out a bit too fast and ended up clipping the distance by 3 miles. Instead of 7, I put in 4. At the start of the run, I was having quite a bit of pain in both my achilles tendons. By the end of the run I was well worn out and having [...]

Moving Quotes

by Hella ~ May 5th, 2004

05.04.04 @ 10:48 pm
It’s time to start looking into how this move is going to be handled. I have resolved to move all my things with me to Philadelphia and I’m not about to drive a U-Haul myself. I’ve got to take the cats on a 1600 mile drive and the thought of a huge [...]

Gifts for Recommenders

by Hella ~ May 4th, 2004

With summer fast approaching, I decided it was time I got off my butt and put it in gear for the people who got it in gear for me back in the Fall. I wasn’t sure what to get them at first, but I figured gift certificates to some nice local restaurants would be a [...]

Cheaper by the Dozen

by Hella ~ May 2nd, 2004

I loved this movie. The plot was good without being too cheesy and it was consistently funny throughout. The kids were really cute even though they make raising a family look pretty scary. The foil of the suburban Chicago family couldn’t have been better. Both the mom and the kid in that family were cast [...]

Stuck on You

by Hella ~ May 2nd, 2004

This movie was second on the afternoon’s list. I was expecting a lot more comedy and a lot less seriousness. The more serious scenes in the movie were somewhat awkward for me. From the previews, I guess I expected just a lot of laughs. I really think this is one of those movies that is [...]

Big Fish

by Hella ~ May 2nd, 2004

This is the first of three movies I have rented for today and it’s the first one I decided to watch.
While definitely not my favorite, it wasn’t as painful to watch as Lost in Translation or Dreamcatcher (or Battlefield Earth for that matter). I’m still not a fan of this movie. I usually like Albert [...]

Mean Girls

by Hella ~ May 1st, 2004

First off, I had no idea what this movie would be about since I hadn’t seen any previews. I saw Tina Fey on Bob Costas’s show last night and she noted it was opening April 30th. From her descriptions of the cast, I thought the adult characters would play more lead roles. I just didn’t [...]
