Waiver Approvals

by Hella ~ July 30th, 2004

The last of my 5 waiver requests was processed today and posted to the online status check system. I think I came out pretty well as 4 out of the 5 I was requesting were approved. Among the approvals were:

FNCE 602 - Macroeconomic Analysis and Public Policy
MGEC 621 - Managerial Economics
MGMT 621 - Management of [...]

Pre Pre-Term Nightlife

by Hella ~ July 29th, 2004

As more people roll into town, the get togethers are getting bigger. Tuesday, some of us started the evening with a dinner at Monk’s Cafe. I’ve been there several times and knew it can get pretty crowded so I showed up early with a couple friends and put my name down on the list. As [...]

PA Driver’s License

by Hella ~ July 27th, 2004

I decided I’d turn in my Texas driver’s license for a Pennsylvania one so I strolled over to 1108 Market St this afternoon to the PennDOT center. The line was quite long, I’m guessing since it was close to lunch, but I decided to stand in it. That’s when I noticed all the signs that [...]

New Hope and Princeton

by Hella ~ July 27th, 2004

Some friends with a car asked me along for a day trip up to New Hope and back through New Jersey this past Sunday. Having not been out of Philadelphia itself, I was excited to accept the invitation. The day started with an early brunch over on Bainbridge. The service was pitiful and the food [...]

Bonner’s

by Hella ~ July 24th, 2004

Last night was my first “official” Wharton group event since I moved to Philadelphia. A few of the people already in town organized an informal happy hour over at Bonner’s on S. 23rd Street around 7pm. There was a nice turnout and by 9pm or so it was pretty crowded. I met some people I’d [...]

Computer Mayhem

by Hella ~ July 23rd, 2004

Today marked my third trip to Computer Connection in an attempt to pick up my order. I had originally placed an order for a T42 laptop (with 512MB additional RAM), Microsoft Office 2003 Pro, and an HP 1300 printer. On my first trip, I learned that my laptop wasn’t yet available for pickup but would [...]

Car to Bike

by Hella ~ July 21st, 2004

I didn’t bring my truck up to Philadelphia and today was my first journey out on the bike I bought last month in anticipation of needing a new mode of transportation. I headed up to the museum area and got some groceries over at the Whole Foods. The store is smaller than I’m used to, [...]

Arrival

by Hella ~ July 19th, 2004

It’s been a few days since I got here but I’ve been without internet this whole time. The phone company will make its third attempt at installing service for me tomorrow morning. In the meantime, I’m thankful someone has an open wireless network in the building :)
The drive to Philadelphia from Texas went very well [...]

Leaving Austin

by Hella ~ July 12th, 2004

Today is officially my last day of work. I’m in a tad early and there’s already a bump. The person scheduled to do my exit interview is not in the office. So now I have to wait around and see if someone else can do it (and the sooner the better!). I was hoping to [...]

Waiver Credentials

by Hella ~ July 6th, 2004

I’d previously said I wouldn’t waive many courses. Recently, I read where it might be a good idea to go ahead and apply for the waivers anyway so as to have the option to accept them. With that in mind, I sent a mailing last week with waiver credentials for five courses. The package was [...]
