Car to Bike
by Hella ~ July 21st, 2004I didn’t bring my truck up to Philadelphia and today was my first journey out on the bike I bought last month in anticipation of needing a new mode of transportation. I headed up to the museum area and got some groceries over at the Whole Foods. The store is smaller than I’m used to, but then again it’s headquartered back in Austin. The prices seemed reasonable and I think I’ll shopping here often. The ride back was more interesting and it’s obvious that I need to invest in a backpack to carry more of the groceries instead of putting the heavy plastic bags on the handle bars. It made negotiating turns and avoiding people almost as stressful as driving the big moving truck down the narrow streets. A few current students recommended I buy a bike and now I can say I’m glad I did. It will sure make the shopping trips a lot less grueling without a car.
