Smoother Sailing
by Hella ~ August 26th, 2004Today is a much better day. I started it off by going to Campus Computers. The gracious management there allowed me to make an exchange. I’m now officially using an Apple Powerbook at Wharton. I’m going to go back later today to pick up Office for Mac. I’ve already managed to get on the wireless network in Huntsman Hall and so far things area rolling smoothly.
This morning I also received approval from a professor to enroll in an elective for which I don’t quite have the prerequisites. This will make filling up spots left open by waived courses much easier. I still have to win the seat in the auction but at least I know I can take the course if I manage to win. After scouring the list of electives, I’ve also found a couple of courses that still have open seats and would be beneficial.
Today’s morning session of accounting was our last before the waiver exam on Saturday. We finished up by doing three practice problems from previous waiver exams. I was working ahead on my own for the first two but wasn’t sure how to tackle the third one. After following along, I think I’ll be able to handle a similar problem if I see it on the exam. While this placement course was a bit boring, it was certainly helpful and did add a good bit of knowledge to what I’ve studied in the past. Mostly my previous courses didn’t get quite as in depth as the problems we’ve been doing in the Pre-Term section.
Statistics waiver exam grades came out while I was in a study room. The grades were posted to our online accounts in webCafe. However, my first name is not what I go by and so my grade didn’t make it into the system. After emailing the instructor, I learned that I passed the exam! Very good news to go home to. Why not go shopping?
Shopping I went, but I didn’t even leave the building. I stopped by the Hickey Freeman fitting and got fitted for a suit. With only one other suit in my collection, I was looking for something in solid navy. After the measurements were taken, I make my selection and it should arrive sometime next month.
