First Pub
by Hella ~ September 10th, 2004Tonight’s Pub, the first of the Fall semester, was sponsored by WASA (African Students Association). It didn’t seem as crowded as it’s been in the past, but that’s probably because I’ve only attended pubs at the Welcome events where there were 3 classes in attendance. Nevertheless, the pizza was still hard to grab, but by 7:30, a lot of attention was focused elsewhere. An African dance troop was scheduled to perform as they did last year and I was curious to see what it would be like. Wow! These people totally had it together. The rhythms were great, the acrobatics and dance moves were impressive, and the audience was really digging it. The energy the performers were showing made me tired after a while, but it was nice to have such a lively opening to the Pub season.
