First Week of Q1
by Hella ~ September 11th, 2004The first week of classes has zipped by and it feels like things are already full-speed ahead. I’ve got a lot of reading to do this weekend and a couple of homeworks to prepare before class on Monday. I took yesterday evening to kind of celebrate getting through the first few days but I am going to have to put my seatbelt on now.
Here’s how my schedule for quarter 1 wound up:
- Finance 601 (core) - Financial Analysis
- Account 620 (core) - Financial Accounting
- Management 652 (core) - Foundations of Leadership and Teamwork
- Marketing 773 - Customer Analysis
- Management 711 - Competitive Strategy and Industrial Structure
Today I’ve been catching up around the house so I can concentrate on school work the rest of the weekend. I have a cohort social tonight at a pub and I feel that it’s important to go since I’m not in all the core classes. Second years have warned that my cohortmates won’t know my face if I don’t!
Recruiting activities aren’t officially underway but there is still a lot going on in the area of Career Management. I attended a Media and Entertainment Industry Speak session on Friday and I’ve got several more lined up for other industries. I also signed up for Consulting 101 and Networking Essentials seminars. Also, it’s about time to start working on the resume for submission to the resume book.
I found out that I didn’t win a spot in the first round for the Patagonia Leadership Venture. Two of my other friends, however, were successful; one is headed to Ecuador and the other is going to Antarctica! I was quite excited for both of them. The fact that they had successful bids and mine failed didn’t stop us from having a great time at the Gloria Estefan concert and then a fun night on the town afterwards.
