Rain Run

by Hella ~ September 15th, 2004

I headed out today in the late afternoon for a run. I only had two classes today and I wanted to take advantage of the little bit of free time I had in my schedule. I’m considering running a half-marathon this Sunday so I was pushing the pace a bit more than normal. It helped quite a bit that it was much cooler and misting/drizzling throughout the entire run. I actually enjoy rain running because I stay cooler much easier.

So I pushed the pace all the way to my turnaround point where I looked at my watch and realized I had shaved 2 minutes off my recent run along the same route. This is a considerable amount for me given that it’s only about 3-3.5 miles total. I turned around and headed back, still holding the pace, but the nausea crept up on me. This let me know that I had pushed hard enough so I eased off and coasted the last 20 minutes back home. I came in 1:30 less than I usually do so it was still a nice run.
