More Than Full-Time
by Hella ~ September 21st, 2004I never realized how much work this going back to school was going to be. I never remember having worked this much and being so prepared for each and every day. Here, we’re expected to have read all the material assigned, given it quite a bit of thought, prepared cases in some instances, written our homeworks, and be ready to be an active participant in class. This is like preparing for the conference call from hell … each and every morning.
Today was actually a light day (my morning class was called off due to illness), but it’s pushing 1:30am and I’m just now ready to settle in for bed. I did leave campus right after Cohort elections at 4:30 (had class until 3:00), and I did go for a 10-mile run. But before today, I was a bit ahead on all my work. After grabbing a quick dinner over which one of my learning teammates joined in for a quick explanation of a finance problem, I headed back home and dove into my readings for tomorrow. This included a case in Competitive Strategy and an article on emotional intelligence (yawn) for Leadership. I also recopied my sloppy notes that I called my Finance homework in preparation to turn it in tomorrow. For now, I’m all caught up, but I guess I could burn some more midnight oil and actually read the textbooks and work the practice problems in Finance and Accounting that were recommended. Nah. I think about my current workload, without having studied for an exam, and then I remind myself that recruiting starts next week? Hahaha.
