Surfacing

by Hella ~ October 5th, 2004

I reckon I’ve been a bit busy in the past couple of weeks and I’m in serious need of an update. Too much has been going on, but here is a quick update. Ok, I’m leaving a lot of stuff out, but I just woke up from a 2 hour nap and I’m in need of dinner.

  1. My learning teammates and most people in my cohort have been getting slammed with the machine gun fire that is Marketing, Statistics, and Managerial Economics. I’ve never felt better about my decision to waive these subjects! :)
  2. While I’m not in some of the core classes, I am in a couple of electives. One of them never fails to confuse me each and every lecture. I’m putting on my seat belt in there as the midterm will not exactly be a joyride.
  3. Recruiting and Employee Information Sessions have begun. While they aren’t my favorite activity of the school experience, it is a small goal of mine to get a decent job when I’m done. A decent paying summer position would also be nice.
  4. My first exam at Wharton is officially complete. I think my Financial Accounting exam went ok, but I’d like to results first to confirm it. At least my Statement of Cash Flows matched the Balance Sheet which is a far cry, maybe even a hard sob, away from my experience in Pre-Term.
  5. I received a note from Health Services that my immunization record has fallen out of compliance. Either they won’t allow me to register for more of these fun and games or I need to get stuck by October 15th. I went and got back in compliance this afternoon so Bring It On!
  6. I never realized there were so many nit picky little details that could be wrong with a resume. From all the red marks on my paper given by various resume reviewers, I wonder how I’ve gotten my past jobs. I’m crossing my fingers that they won’t be the same ones interviewing me in January.

  1. Reflection

Well I’m convinced that when resume reviewers look at mine they’ll have comments like, “I don’t like this work experience” or “Why didn’t you have better jobs?” or “You should have worked for better companies.” I only hope they have things to critique that I can actually fix!
