Catch Up
by Hella ~ October 15th, 2004With the crazy fast pace of the past few weeks (recruiting especially), I’ve finally got a weekend where I can play catch up. A lot of my classmates went to New York City today to attend Days on the Job with Bear Stearns and Banc of America Securities but I wanted to use today as a way to get a jump on my weekend; I really need it at this point.
I’ve got a midterm in Customer Behavior next week and I’ve got a lot of preparation to do for it. After Fall Break, I’ve got my exam in Competitive Strategy and I have more than a little work to do there. The class isn’t going so well and it’s obvious that strategic management isn’t where it’s at for me. We haven’t taken grades yet, but I’ve taken stock of my understanding … and it’s lacking! The day before that exam, I’ve got a midterm in Corporate Finance. Professor Allen told us yesterday that there will be time pressure to complete the exam so that it will take some focused preparation.
Well, at least Leadership is over for the first quarter. We had our final class on Tuesday. It was really my only team project so far but overall putting it together went smoothly. It’s nice to close the book on one of my courses so I can focus on the other four for a short time. I’ll be taking Communications and Ethics next quarter bringing my total class load up to 6.
I’ve spent today catching up on my correspondence with recruiters and making arrangements to attend an event next week in New York City. Coming from Texas, this will actually be my first trip up there so it should be interesting, particularly if I’m the only one from Wharton attending.
Tomorrow I’m going to focus on my Accounting homework that’s due on Monday and spend some time relaxing. I want to go for a long run and head to the gym. Both of those are things I really miss and should put more priority on. Once I get the hang of balancing everything out (which I still haven’t done) I’m hoping I can actually stick to a training program. I’ve got my eyes on a distance run in January but I’m no where near where I need to be.
