Piling Up
by Hella ~ October 24th, 2004Next week is already stacking up to be a doozey. Though it’s officially Fall Break right now, I’m using it as a way to relax, bum around town, and also catch up on some reading. I’ve got a Finance exam on Nov 1 and then an Accounting exam on Nov 8 followed by a Competitive Strategy exam on Nov 9. Recruiting will also kick into a higher gear. In addition to classes and recruiting, extracurriculars are getting more involved.
DGSAC - Dean’s Graduate Student Advisory Committee
DGSAC is my main outside activity this year. After an application process including an interview, three 2nd year students and six 1st year students were invited to join the six existing members of the committee. The group serves as an advisory board to Dean Harker. The work is much like consulting and we’ve got 4 main projects this year. I’m working on a project for Executive Education. We’ve had our initial client meeting and today was our first internal team meeting. In total, the project will probably require a 5-10 hour time commitment per week. I think the project will be a great way to interact with 2nd years, build some valuable skills, and apply concepts I’ve learned in class. I can already see where my Customer Behavior course will come in handy and that makes me feel better about deciding to take it.
So I’m off to dinner before I call it an early night. I want to get started early tomorrow so I have a productive day with some time to relax in addition to checking off a few ToDo list items. At least I found time to fit in a 6-mile run this afternoon.
