Auction Suction

by Hella ~ November 15th, 2004

The course auction and I are not friends … we’re really not even on speaking terms right now. Despite bidding in excess of 4000 points for the one “popular” elective I wanted, I didn’t win it. Nevermind the fact that this course went for 100 points in the first round, I couldn’t bid for it then anyway because I’m in my first year. *Grumble*

So it’s back to the drawing board. I’ve slated myself a new strategy that I think it might work out better for me. I will have no class on Tuesday or Thursday during my third quarter. Additionally, I’ll only be carrying four courses. In Q4, I’ll step that up to six courses to finish out my first year with only three credit units left to complete my major in Finance. I guess I’ll work on the Accounting major during my second year, but I was really hoping to get my hands on a delicious Accounting elective this Spring. Evidently, people really love that subject; who knew!?

I always thought “delicious Accounting elective” was an oxymoron. But I’m more a Marketing and Strategy kind of guy anyway.

So… my Accounting professor told us this joke the day he introduced T accounts… he said that the people who can draw more complex drawings do Marketing… the people who can do graphs and draw lines and curves tangent to each other do Economics… the people who can draw decision trees do Strategy or Finance, and the ones who can only draw straight lines (a la the T’s for the account worksheet) do Accounting.
