Long Days

by Hella ~ December 1st, 2004

This week has started out with a lot to do. Monday I was at it from 6:30 in the morning til 12:30 at night with only a break for lunch and dinner. I really was working on school stuff the rest of the time. Tuesday also proved to be long. After class let out at noon, I met a friend and talked about some recruiting stuff. Later in the afternoon I had a team meeting for DGSAC and then an internal meeting with the rest of the members. After that, I headed over to the Finance Club social. Luckily all the beer had been moved from the refrigerator in MBA Pub. Before Thanksgiving another first year officer and I managed to move 17 cases of beer from an apartment in Center City over to campus. I borrowed a car, loaded it up in Center City, got a security guard to let us in Pub, called one of the Pub manager’s to give us access to the fridge, unloaded it, all without getting a parking ticket or taking more than an hour. I was quite relieved at how smooth it went. Anyhow, the Finance Club social wasn’t as well attended as we’d hoped and we had to put a lot of the beer back in the fridge. This required several of the same hoops as before.

Today was a bit lighter. I had class from 9-noon, then took prospectives to lunch (while the beer was being transported from the fridge to Huntsman Hall, boy that beer has a lot of miles on it by now!), class from 1:30-3, and then I headed home. I took some time to relax before heading out to dinner. When I got back, I quickly polished up my cover letter and resume and submitted them for the first time. That’ll be the first of many to come as most deadlines are Dec 9.

This weekend is shaping up to be a real booger. I signed up for a valuation class all day Saturday and I have a big case due in Finance on Monday morning. At some point, I need to start working on my paper for Strategy and begin studying for finals. I also need to prepare my final speech for Monday’s Communication class. Ethics ended today and though we still have the take-home final to complete, I’m starting to feel the first bits of closure to the first semester. It’s been a bit more hectic than I expected and the first quarter definitely seems to have had more to do. I even had 1 less class than I have now. It gives me hope that maybe taking 6 classes in Q4 won’t be so bad after all.
