Cases, Elections, Data, and Court

by Hella ~ February 22nd, 2005

Just when recruiting ceases to be a stress, all sorts of new things come in the door. This week I’ve got to prepare for a case competition in Virginia that takes place on Thursday, prepare (actually just be a data monkey) a document for my DGSAC client, work on digging up some data for an advanced study project (it’s replacing a class that I’m kind of … uhm … dropping!), and fit in all the regular class stuff. Since the case competition will take me away most of the day (and I’m driving the rental car down there for my team), I won’t be able to get much done. Friday is already looking really good since some of this stuff will be all finished.

The case competition has been a bit chaotic. My team has suffered some unfortunate events and we’re technically two people short. The time to prepare it is tight and we have never worked together so it should be quite interesting. We’re meeting here in a few minutes to prepare more on our strategy. I’ll feel better once we have an actual draft PowerPoint.

Most of the clubs on campus are running their elections this week. I successfully ran unopposed for Marketing VP of the Finance Club so I’ll be continuing my efforts during this year. It also appears that I’m running unopposed for Treasurer for the Sales and Trading Club. I’d really like to help out more with S&T next year so hopefully this goes through as anticipated.

Oh, I got a lovely piece of mail today. “JURY DUTY - IT’S YOUR TURN!” was splashed all over the outside of the mailing. What a delightful surprise. I emailed an academic advisor to see if being a student will qualify me for an exemption. I’m not so sure and I have class starting at 1030a the morning I have to show up at the courthouse at 815a.
