Gripes About Faculty
by Hella ~ March 15th, 2005Ok, I’m fed up with this crap. I still have not received my grade for BPUB 621. News Flash: Quarter 3 is over. What I’m really annoyed with is that I haven’t even gotten my MIDTERM back from Feb 9. I blame no one but the professor who should have the decency to get these things turned around in a timely manner. Compare this with Managerial Accounting: that grade has been posted for a day and the final exams were available for pickup starting today. This whole thing will probably come back to bite me in the form of bad karma since I haven’t seen the grade yet. Oh well.
And while we’re on the topic … another thing I absolutely cannot stand is when professors submit their bulkpack materials to Reprographics late and we don’t have the course materials ready by the first day. This is completely unacceptable. I could see them blaming the fact that they don’t control Reprographics. Oh yeah? If that’s the case, then submit it earlier. It’s a known issue.
Oh, one more if I’m allowed. This over-emphasis on participation. I can’t stand it. To add insult to injury, in Global Strategic Management (MGMT 655), we can’t even make the equivalent of higher than a C unless we have a “satisfactory” participation score. While I understand the importance of having a case discussion, it is really pointless to just mouth off for the sake of getting participation points. Case in point? Today’s Supply Chain Management course. Sure, it was mostly lecture, but it covered almost exactly what was in the readings page by page. When I understand the readings the first time, why should I ask even a clarifying question? Grumble.
