Treading
by Hella ~ April 4th, 2005I feel like I’m barely making it this days but thankfully the end of the Q4 is in sight. Today marks somewhat of a turning point in classwork for me as I’m finishing up a research paper for Tax and turning in my second of four homeworks in OPIM. It feels like all I’m doing these days is homework, particularly on Sunday where I seem to be busy for 8+ hours just getting ready for the week (or catching up on what fell through the cracks during the past week).
So far the increase in team meetings has not really affected my time as much as I thought it might, but we are doing a pretty decent job of keeping things efficient (except for our second meeting for the strategy simulation). We’re now also half-way through with that and I’m really ready for it to be over. While the thought exercise itself is good, I’m a bit pessimistic about how we’re benchmarked against others. We’re all lumped together in a pool of teams that started out in similar positions. The issue for me is that some teams might be up against some really tough competition and end up losing out, even though they were technically better. I’m probably overthinking things, but it still doesn’t sound like the right way to judge things.
I’ve been looking for sublets in NYC lately and emailed a few people off craigslist, but so far nothing has materialized. I’m worried I’m going to have to let go of my pretty specific priorities in order to have a place lined up in sufficient time not to have to worry about it. I’ll have plenty of other things to worry with, namely getting finger printed, submitting a drug screen, and filling out the rest of the necessary paperwork. I’m really looking forward to starting the summer job, though. It’ll be something totally new for me and that’s kinda why I came back to school in the first place.
