Take-home exam

by Hella ~ April 15th, 2006

At some point in the day, the final exam solution for my Problems in Financial Reporting (Accounting) class was posted. After getting in late tonight and seeing the notification in my email, I decided to have a peek. This exam was pretty tough for me and I fully expected the outcome to be scary. As I looked over the solution and thought back to which answers I’d circled (it was multiple choice, with 8+ choices per question), I realized that I’d done better than I thought. In addition to the 20 multiple choice questions, there were 2 longer integrative questions where a free-form answer was required. Though not conceptually tough, it was difficult to come up with all the necessary steps needed for one of them; for the other, I found it challenging to come up with 5 rock solid examples for what the question was asking.

Though I don’t have the official grade, I feel like I did well enough to at least hold my position in the class. At least it’s no where near what would keep me from graduating :-) Now if only my group project for Corporate Valuation was complete, I might actually be able to have a mostly homework-free weekend.
