Spring in Philadelphia

by Hella ~ April 29th, 2006

The weather seems to have finally turned for the better (or at least not quite as chilly). Trees are in bloom and the parks are starting to see more maintenance. The fountain in JFK Love Park is almost always in these days and we’ve been seeing some bright sunny skies over the past week. Here are a few shots of Spring in Philadelphia.

First, Logan Square was recently renovated and given a much cleaner look. The fountain has been turned back on and I think it looks great. In the foreground, you can see one of the new benches installed. Local residents were given a chance to vote on their choice of benches and I’m happy that the more classic option prevailed. The modern bench with the silver railings just didn’t seem to fit.

Here’s a shot on bike and jogging trail that runs adjacent to the Schuylkill River. This is along the east side of the 8.4 mile loop I run through Fairmount Park. For about a week, the trees in this area are full of blooms. While it’s not Washington DC, the blossoms are still nice to look at.

Finally, a more colorful shot looking south towards downtown.
