Hella blog subtitle updated

by Hella ~ May 26th, 2006

Now that the Wharton and Philadelphia days are over, this blog’s subtitle has been renamed from “Running, Wharton, and Philadelphia living”. These days I enjoy trail running much more than road running, hence that change. I’m no longer doing my MBA at Wharton — I graduated this May. But I’ll soon be working as a [...]

Hawaii vacation

by Hella ~ May 26th, 2006

I’ve been on the island of Oahu since Saturday of last week doing pretty much nothing. Well, we’ve had 1 or 2 things planned per day and with the exception of the Makiki Valley hike, all have been pretty easy going. The vacation is drawing to a close which is probably good since I burned [...]

Southwest Airlines and email

by Hella ~ May 9th, 2006

UPDATE: 10 Jan 2008
Southwest appears to be making progress in regards to receiving customer emails! The customer service page originally linked below now reads:
Important Note About E-mail:
We are hard at work designing a system that will allow us to accept and respond to e-mail, yet maintain that personal touch that you have come to expect [...]

It’s official … I passed everything!

by Hella ~ May 9th, 2006

Though I had some scary classes this semester (in terms of crazy difficult material), I actually did OK. My Wharton academic career is complete! I have attained the 19 credit units (I actually completed 19.5) required to graduate while also completing majors in Accounting, Finance, Marketing, and Strategic Management.

At Wharton, at least [...]

Freight elevators

by Hella ~ May 7th, 2006

I just sold the largest piece of furniture in my apartment and I’ve concluded that having a frieght elevator in the building in a big city is at the top of my priority list. When I first moved in here, I didn’t realize the benefits quite so much. Looking back, moving my things from the [...]

PHL Airport ontime record

by Hella ~ May 6th, 2006

I just saw an early edition of tomorrow’s (Sunday’s) edition of the Philadelphia Inquirer and a front page story confirms what I already suspected: Philadelphia International Airport is the nation’s worst in terms of ontime record. Almost two years of experience flying into and out of here has left me numb to how bad it [...]

Life’s not a beach

by Hella ~ May 6th, 2006

So it’s Saturday May 6, one day since Wharton Beach Week started down in Miami, yet I’m still up in Philadelphia. Why? There are several reasons actually, but the most annoying of which is the fact that I haven’t sold all my furniture (and that absolutely must happen). However, over the past two days I’ve [...]

Wawa is for celebrities

by Hella ~ May 5th, 2006

Several days back I mentioned that I liked some of the prepared foods at Wawa (notably their Hoagies). Well apparently the place is popular with local celebreties, too. I just came back from my neighborhood store and who was walking out as I entered?: former mayor of Philadelphia and now governor of Pennsylvania, Ed Rendell. [...]

MBA Technorati tags

by Hella ~ May 4th, 2006

I’ve added the SimpleTags plugin to my WordPress install to allow me to easily add Technorati tags to my posts. While some MBA-related websites use tags, I’m not sure many in the MBA applicant and student blogging community do. It would be nice to see MBA bloggers use them so that content is much easier [...]

My Wharton favorites

by Hella ~ May 4th, 2006

This post will be on ongoing effort to document some of the things I enjoyed most while at Wharton.
Exercise

Take a stroll along Walnut from the Schuylkill to the Deleware
Walk to Rittenhouse Square Park, find an open park bench, and sit a spell
Run up to Falls Bridge in Fairmount Park along East Kelly Drive (much more [...]
