I’ve had several requests recently from blogs that have a single short post or only a very few recent and also very short posts. Please be aware that I will not add these type of blogs right away. From my last post:

I regularly trim the list so that the server doesn’t continuously query up and analyze sites that do not have recent content. Please, build up a bit of content before posting a comment here asking to be listed.

If you ask to be added and haven’t been, consider your content.

Do you have more than a few posts?
Has your blog existed for more than a few days
Is your blog focused on MBA-related topics?

If you do not answer yes to all three questions, “here’s your sign”.

Applicant blogs, mostly stale!

I just completed a trimming of the applicant blog list. The list started with 142 blogs. After de-activating blogs that did not have recent activity, some that weren’t focused on MBA-related topics, and moving some to the student list, there are now 54 left.

I regularly trim the list so that the server doesn’t continuously query up and analyze sites that do not have recent content. Please, build up a bit of content before posting a comment here asking to be listed. Also, keep in mind that these lists are intended to serve as a resource for those interested in reading about applicant, student, and alumni experiences by individual authors. It is only with rare exception that I consider adding blogs outside of this goal (yes, I know I list the Wharton Adcomblog, Clear Admit’s blog, and Accepted.com’s blog).

Blank blog titles fixed

If your MBA blog was appearing in the lists with a blank title, I have implemented a workaround to the scripts.

I am aware of an issue where a few blogs on the MBA blog lists have blank titles. I have not been able to isolate the issue but it does seem limited to only a few blogs. Nothing has changed in the code and most listings continue to appear as normal. I continue to monitor this and hope to identify a resolution soon.

Spring cleaning on the blog lists

It’s that time of year again … I’m cleaning up the MBA blog lists. Slowly, I’m going through and looking to see which sites are still active. For those that are not, I’m marking them as inactive so it doesn’t slow down the feeds. Let me know if you need to be added back by following these instructions. Thanks.

Server move, blogger issues

I’ve moved my webhost from Australia to America but most of the issues have been ironed out (save a few timezone peculiarities). However, there is an issue with ATOM feeds, so I mass updated all blogspot.com blogs and a few others to use RSS instead.

In order to be listed, you need to have a valid RSS 2.0 formatted feed. Please follow these instructions if you are no longer appearing on the list. Thanks!

The blog lists have once again been updated. Blogs that had not been updated since 1 March 2007 were removed.

If you recently contacted me to be added to the student or applicant list, I have made my way through the emails and blog comments and added you appropriately. Please contact me again if you still don’t see yourself because there are currently no requests in the queue.

If I responded to you about your blog feed not being valid, go to http://feedvalidator.org and see what output the tool gives you. Your feed must be valid in order to appear in the lists. If it’s not, try to figure out why. Sometimes the errors are passable and the feed doesn’t have to be perfect. Others throw the aggregator out of whack.

In other news, the lists are now so popular that I’m exceeding my monthly bandwidth at my webhost. I’m going to have to figure out an alternative solution for them soon as I don’t want to keep paying the monthly overage fees.
